Wreaths Across America

WEST POINT, NY – Both Chevrolet and local New York Chevrolet dealers announced their continued support of Wreaths Across America, a nonprofit organization dedicated to honoring and remembering military heroes during the holidays. On Saturday, December 2, West Point Cemetery in West Point, NY will hold their wreath laying ceremony. The local New York Chevrolet dealers have contributed 2,000 wreaths to the cause. This is the third year Chevrolet and the New York Chevrolet dealers are supporting the organization.

A fleet of Chevrolet vehicles – which include several decorated Suburban’s, Traverse’s, and 1 military tribute Camaro – will lead the Wreaths Across America journey from its Maine headquarters to Arlington National Cemetery in Washington, D.C., beginning Sunday, Dec. 10 through Saturday, Dec. 16.

"We are proud to pay tribute to our fallen and departed heroes through our continued partnership with Wreaths Across America,” said Dan Adamcheck, Chevrolet Regional Director Sales, Service and Marketing. “Laying those wreaths for our military heroes is just a small gesture to show how truly grateful we are for their service to our country.” This year, in partnership with Wreaths Across America, Chevrolet will help transport and place over 1,000,000 wreaths at military cemeteries across the country.

Wreaths Across America began when Maine businessman Morrill Worcester – inspired by the power of Arlington National Cemetery during a childhood visit – began placing wreaths there in 1992 with a small group of volunteers.

Today, his vision has become a national grassroots movement to remember America’s military heroes during the holidays. In 2008, Congress unanimously passed legislation to recognize Wreaths Across America Day each December, and memorials are held to honor veterans at historic military landmarks and statehouses in nearly all 50 states.
